Table Tennis Prodigies

 
Master Ravi Narasimhan a pupil at Dukhan English School was selected by Qatar Table Tennis Federation to represent Qatar in Table Tennis.Narasimhan plays for Al-Rayyan Club became the Table Tennis Champion (sub-junior) by beating last years champion from Al-Saad Club. Narasimhan Ravi,who is just 11 years old amassed more than 25 trophies and 20 medals in various sports. A Russian coach trains him at Al-Rayyan club. (Asian games stadium) Narasimhan is an official member of Qatar table tennis federation. He is the first expatriate from Dukhan, who bagged the sub-junior table tennis champion title in Qatar. He brought many laurel to Dukhan English School and inspired many children in Dukhan to venture into the sport of table tennis.
 
Master Gagan Malik an eight year old boy has represented Rayyan Sports Club in Qatar Inter-Club Junior (under 10) Championship 2008-2009 and has won 4 tournaments in a row. Moreover, he was brought laurels to Dukhan Indian Community by winning Idealite Timex Table Tennis Tournament 2008 and ICC Table tennis Tournaments 2008.
 

Born in table tennis savvy family, Richa Dhayani has brought laurels only to Dukhan Community but to Indian community in Qatar. Daughter of Sabina and Kailash Dhyani,  is a well known table tennis player in Dukhan and Doha. Richa had started her journey to fame in 2004 by winning her first TT tournaments in '' All Expatriate Schools of Doha -Table Tennis Tournament 2004'' under 14 years category organized by Qatar Foundation. Since 2005, she has not  lost any tournaments in her age group and she had either won the 1st position or runners-up. She has qualified three time for ''CBSE-National Meet in India under-19 year of age to represent Qatar through MES School.
She had another feather in her cap by winning ''Al-khor Oil and Gas open Table Tennis Tournament 2008'' in women category. Moreover, she has won continuously 3 years in a row  under 18 years category '' Single and doubles'' of ICC-OPEN Table Tennis Tournament 2006-2007 & 2008.
She has brought fame to her parents and ISD, by winning ''IDEALITE-Timex Table Tennis Open Tournament 2007'' under -19 years category and winning first time held ''Tissot-Open Table Tennis Meet" held in MES-school-2008' in doubles as well singles.ISD community is proud to have Richa as its member and wish her best of luck for her future tournaments and further studies.

Mr. Ashik Jamaluddin was awarded 1st runner-up in the American Arts Festival Photography Competition held in Doha recently. Seen here Mr.Ashik receiving the award from Mr. Sam Abell of National Geographic Magazine. Mr. Ashiq is a gifted multi-facetted artist who has shown great talent in singing & mimicry too.

Way to go Sana

 

A team of fourteen girls represented Qatar at the ACC (Asian Cricket Council) Under-19 Women’s Cricket Championships at the Prem Oval in Thailand during December 2008. The fourteen players were selected from around a hundred girls that tried out for the team. Sana Zafar was the only Indian selected from Dukhan. This was the first time an Under-19 women’s cricket tournament was organized by the ACC. A total of 12 countries participated in the tournament. Qatar performed brilliantly in all of its matches, coming 1st from the Middle-East and just losing by 20 runs from getting a place in the semi-finals. One of the most exciting matches of the tournament was played between Qatar and the UAE, where Sana Zafar was awarded Player of the Match for her outstanding performance in beating the UAE by 7 wickets.
