	ISD Grand Quiz-2010 Indian Society of Dukhan (ISD) conducted the Grand Quiz Contest on Tuesday, 27th April 2010 evening at JRC Main hall. Mr. Wilfred Gonsalves, committee member of ISD, welcomed all and introduced the Quiz master Mr. Ravi Shankar who anchored the Quiz. The Guests at the evening were Mr. Mark Pilling - Senior Instructor, QP, Dukhan and Mrs. Patricia Burnham – Deputy Head Mistress of Dukhan English School. There were two main rounds. In the preliminary round, almost 24 students (12 teams) participated for the written test. Based on the marks scored, 5 teams were (10 students) invited to the stage to compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions. At the end of the exciting competition the winners were Nakul & Vandya (Team C) followed by Sudheesh & Avinash (Team D) at second position and Nidhi & Yazan (Team B) at third position. Team A (Megha & Anagha) and Team E (Afeef & Sunanda) were the other teams who competed at the final round. Trophies and certificates were given away to the winners and all participants. Instant gifts were also given away to the audience. Special appreciation gift was given to the Quiz Master Mr. Ravi Shankar. ISD thanked QP Management, Dukhan Operations Manager Mr. Ahamed Saif Al-Sulaiti, Community Services Manager Mr. Khalid Al-Sahlawi, The Quiz Anchor Mr. Ravi Shankar, JRC Committee members, Eid Al-Hajri, ISD committee members, all particpated children, audienence and all others who put their effort for the success of this grand event. ISD Vice Chairman Nasimudheen A. Hameed Coordinated the Event. General Secretary Jayadeep balan delivered vote of Thanks. With a Dinner the event was adjourned.
Republic day Celebrations-2010
	Indian Society of Dukhan, celebrated the 61st Republic Day of India with a variety of colourful cultural programmes held at Dukhan Cinema on Sunday, 31st January 2010 evening. Mr. Sanjiv Kohli, charge d affairs, Embassy of India, Qatar, was the Chief Guest of the day. Mr. Mohammed Hamad Al-Baker, Head of Clubs, Catering and PR, Mr. Subait Hassawi, Clubs Supervisor, were the other guests who attended the function. General Secretary of ISD, Mr. Jayadeep Balan welcomed all and Miss Shivani Sreedhar spoke about the significance of Indian Republic Day. ISD Chairman Mr. Sathis Chandran and Chief Guest Mr. Sanjiv Kohli also spoke on the occasion. The Cultural Programme was anchored by Mr. Arvind Patil. Spectacular dances performed by kids of QP employees and some of the Doha based performers made the event a colourful and memorable one. ISD thanked Operations Manager Mr. Ahmad Saif Sulaiti and Manager Community Services Mr. Khalid Al-Sahlawi who provided the facilities and other support which made the Indian Republic Day Celebrations a success.

6 th DWA Handicraft exhibition on 19 & 20th Nov 2009.
	ISD participated in the DWA’s Handicraft exhibition which was held on 19 & 20 th Nov 2009. A beautiful Kerala traditional house was made by our esteemed volunteers. Our active Lady volunteers collected various handicrafts from our each community members & made our pavilion more attractive. HE Minister of Petroleum & Energy Dr Mohamed Al Sada who inaugurated the Indian pavilion appreciated our community for active participation in such events. We received second prize for the performance. Also our young talents participated in the cultural show won the third Prize. First time in the history of Dukhan DWA organized a country procession where ISD could made our PSLV & could shown India’s latest developments towards “the Mission to Moon” It was well appreciated by all. Indian Indpendence day Celebrations -2009
	Indian Society of Dukhan (ISD) celebrated 62nd anniversary of Indian Independence day on Saturday 15th August 2009 at Al Dostur Hall of Dukhan Recreation Centre with various colorful cultural program. Chief Guest Mr Saad Ebrahim Al-Bader A/Manager Operations Engineering, Qatar Petroleum Dukhan formally inaugurated the function by cake cutting. Mr Mohamed Eid Al Hajri President Jinnan Recreation center Qatar Petroleum was the Guest of honor. Mr Debashis Roy Chairman Indian Society of Dukhan delivered a rousing welcome speech highlighting the significance of Independence Day. Mr Nasimudheen A. Hameed, General Secretary ISD coordinated the entire event. Mr Ibrahim Puthiyaveettil who retired after his long services rendered at Dukhan, received an appreciation Memento for his outstanding contribution to Dukhan Community on this occasion. He was an active Social worker who served as Senior Steward at Qatar Petroleum Dukhan Clubs for past 34 years. He joined Qatar Petroleum on 11th October’1975. After a long time, Indians residing in Dukhan celebrated I-day on August 15th itself. Event started at Morning 10:00 hrs by playing both Qatar & Indian National Anthems followed by a spectacular Cultural dances by tiny talents of Dukhan. Cultural Show depicted sovereignty, freedom & brave of Indian patriots. Chief Guest Saad Al Bader stressed everlasting Indo- Qatar Relationship in his address. Mrs Kalavathi Sachi compared the cultural event. Treasure Sundaram Krishnan gave vote of Thanks. Miss Ameena Ismail, Mrs Kavitha Sunish, Mrs Sukanya Bharani, Mrs Mahalakshmi, Mrs Glory Sudarsan, & Mrs Sainaba Hussain choreographed the cultural dances.

			ISD FAMILY EVE ISD conducted a Family Evening on Saturday 27th June 2009 at Jinnan Recreation Centre (JRC). The event was exclusively organized by Indian Women at Dukhan with a variety cultural show & fun games. Various food stalls were also organized by ISD volunteers, which were added attractions to the event. Mrs. Dola Roy choudary & Akshtha Bhatkar were the Ladies Events Coordinators. ISD Chairman, Mr. Debashis Roy inaugurated the function. Mrs Sirisha Ramaiah, Sabita Sarang & Saupda Patil choreographed few dances. Young talents of Dukhan enchanted the audience with beautiful Cinematic dances. Sumeera Sameer, Sameer Hassan, Anil K and Krishna Sreedhar overwhelmed the audience with evergreen nostalgic songs.
			ISD Sports Day -2009   ISD held its annual sports day on Saturday 11th April, 2009 at Dukhan English School Sports Track. Mr Rashid Ramadan , Mr Subaith Hassawi & Mr Gaffar were the Guests for the day. IBQ was the main sponsor for this event. It was a fun day with lots of sports activities for both children and adults alike. Breakfast was served for all members and their families. ISD wishes to thank all the members who participated and made this day a great sucess.
			Picnic to Qtel Tent at Mesaieed Indian Society of Dukhan organised a Picnic on Saturday 28th March 2009 to the Qtel Tent, an entertainment facility by Qtel for the public near Mesaieed sand dunes. The trip was a memorable one with lots of fun and games for young and old. More than 200 community members gathered on this occasion. General Secretary Nasimudheen A. Hameed thanked QP Community services for providing logestics & support. Also he thanked Qtel Public Relations for provding the venue

	Republic Day Celebrations 2009
	Indian Society of Dukhan (ISD) celebrated 60th Republic day of India at Dukhan Cinema on 5th Feb, 09 with various cultural programmes. Mr Sanjiv Kohli, Charge d’ Affaires & Minister, Embassy of India was the chief Guest for the event. Mr. Misfer Saleh Al-Bidaiwi, Manager Gas Recycling, Qatar Petroleum, Dukhan, Mr. Hamad Saleh Al-Sulaiti, Head of Administration, Planning & Budget, Community Services Department, Qatar Petroleum Dukhan, & Mr. T.R Meena, Second Secretary (Labour & Education), Embassy of India were the guests of honor.   Welcoming the gathering, Mr .Debashis Roy, Chairman ISD highlighted the significance of Republic Day and mentioned the important role played by ISD to promote various charitable, social and cultural activities for Indian community. He also extended heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Mr Sanjiv Kohli, Charge De Affairs and Minister(Political) for his valuable guidance and support to provide Indian Consular Services at Zekreet Industrial area."
	On this occasion ISD launched its Web site which is intended to enhance interaction among the members and motivate socio-cultural interest of the community. Academic Excellence awards were presented to the outstanding students of Dukhan. On this eve ISD honoured the students Miss Vadehi Parab  O level Edexel, Mr.  Arjun.V.S. A level Edexel, Miss. Fathima Thangal  10th Kerala board,  Mr Gokul Raja & Miss. Sapna  Sharma CBSC 10th, Miss Pritpal Sandhu & Mr George Alexander  CBSC 12th Science Stream,  Miss Dhanya Roy & Miss Lakshmi Devi CBSE commerce stream.
	A special memento was awarded to Toastmaster Koka Prasad who represented entire Middle-East for the Inter-district Speech Contest of Toastmaster International conducted at Calgary, Canada in August 2008 & won a Third place.     Mr. Nasimudheen A. Hameed, General Secretary of ISD coordinated the event & delivered the opening speech. He conveyed the gratitude and appreciationof ISD to Qatar Petroleum Management for their enormous support for all the community activities.  A spectacular cultural show performed by young talents of Dukhan enchanted the overwhelming spectators at Dukhan Cinema. The show ended with a fabulous Skit ‘A tribute to Martyrs of India - Aisa Desh Hai Hamara’ directed by Mr. Arvind Patil, which created some heart touching moments to the audience.  “An awakening call to the Country – Zindagi Maut Na Ban Jaye”, was conveyed through a kawwali sung by Mr. Sameer Hassan & Mr. Arun Nadkarni. Dr. Kanakam Rao, Mrs. Subbulakshmi, Mrs. Sukanya, Mrs. Nirupama, Mrs. Kavitha, Ms. Sapna, Ms. Shradha & Ms Purva choreographed the cultural dances. Mr. Hiren Desai delivered vote of thanks.

Grand Quiz 2009

Indian Society of Dukhan (ISD) conducted a Grand Quiz competition on 23rd January 2009 at Al Dostur Hall Dukhan. Sixteen energetic teams from various schools participated. From preliminary round 6 teams were selected for a final round of Quiz which was conducted by Mr Sanjay Shetty, a talented Quiz master. Miss Sana Zafar & Mr. Len Roche from Dukhan English Speaking School won the “Grand Quiz –2009”. Second prize was won by Mr. Aljie Igros & Mr. Mohd Ameen Beg. Third prize winners were Mr. Ahmed Abdul Haseeb & Mr. Mohd Zaid Khan.   Mr. Patrick Choueiri, Head of clubs, Catering & PR, Mr.Debashis Roy, Chairman ISD & Mr. Subaith Al Hassawi, Clubs supervisor were the dignitaries of the event.  ISD General Secretary Mr. Nasimudheen welcomed the audience.  It was certainly a proud moment for the residents of Dukhan to witness such an event first time in the history of Dukhan.  Audience also received prizes by answering interesting questions by Quiz master Mr. Sanjay Shetty.   Total 32 students from various schools participated in this event.  Participation & support from DESS were much appreciated by the Organizers.  Winners of Grand Quiz –2009 Miss. Sana Zafar & Mr. Len Roche received a surprise gift a Digital Camera from Manager Community Services, Both participants & audience including children enjoyed this lively evening.
